Social Security

As for the basic needs of life [food, clothes, shelter, medical care, and education] they should be a right to every individual without regard to income or wealth testing.  It should be a continuing distribution as Social Security is to those who are eligible.  It should in fact be done by the Social Security Administration. The only qualification should be citizenship and a Social Security Account.  The retirement component should be a function of money earned by years spent working and calculated on the annuity principle with a Cost-of-Living Allowance.

We start with the Medical Care plan.  The one that was past is going to be a Bureaucratic nightmare. You extend the Social Security eligibility for Medicare to age 18 and add a Medical Debt card for 100 a month to help with the extra medical needs that Medicare doesn't cover. It can take the place of most Medicaid outlays with out the Bureaucratic overlay. As the years go by it can be expanded to the point that it will also cover food now under the EBT program that was called Food Stamps   You can then add in the Rent Subsidy Allowence.   The idea is to remove the Bureaucracy from your life.  Replace it with Freedom from desperation for every American and not just those who who are willing to suffer the humiliation of Means Testing. The result will be less Government in your face and an expanded Social Security safety net. You could call me a Social Security Democrat.
